Lydford Forest is a large woodland area on the west of Dartmoor, about 5 miles north of Tavistock. There is a woodland trail which leads down to the valley of the River Lyd. Photos are from a fine Sunday in April.
The Plym River begins on Dartmoor and flows though west Devon to meet the sea at Plymouth. There is an estuary east of Plymouth and the part of the estuary from Marsh Mills to Laira Bridge is known as The Laira. On the east bank of the The Laira is Blagdons Meadow and on the west bank, there is a car park near Laira Bridge and a trail that leads along the bank of the estuary into the grounds of Saltram House. The Avon River begins on Dartmoor and flows into the Avon Dam Reservoir and then flows through South Devon to meet the sea at Bantham Sand. At Aveton Gifford there is a tidal road beside the river and there are pleasant views of the river. Photos from a fine Tuesday afternoon in South Devon in July.
Wembury Beach is a popular beach on the south west Devon coast. There is good walking on the coast west from Wembury to Heybrook Bay (shown in these photos) and further west to Bovisand. Photos from a Sunday in July with sunshine on the south Devon coast, but rather cloudy inland.
Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers are two picturesque villages on the banks of Newton Creek, a creek which leads into the Yealm River in South Devon. Noss Mayo in particular is a great place to visit with good walking along the Yealm River out to the coast. Photos from a beautiful Sunday in early July.
