Wistmans Wood is a small woodland comprised of dwarf oaks on the bank of the West Dart River on Dartmoor. The woodland can be reached by walking from Two Bridges along the West Dart valley and there are fine views along the valley. St Germans is a large village in South East Cornwall. There is an impressive Norman church and shops and pub. There is also a riverside walk by the River Tiddy to St Germans Quay and there are fine views of the estuary and the impressive viaduct. Photos from a sunny and warm Sunday morning in late August.
The Plym River begins on Dartmoor and flows though west Devon to meet the sea at Plymouth. There is an estuary east of Plymouth and the part of the estuary from Marsh Mills to Laira Bridge is known as The Laira. On the east bank of the The Laira is Blagdons Meadow and on the west bank, there is a car park near Laira Bridge and a trail that leads along the bank of the estuary into the grounds of Saltram House. The Avon River begins on Dartmoor and flows into the Avon Dam Reservoir and then flows through South Devon to meet the sea at Bantham Sand. At Aveton Gifford there is a tidal road beside the river and there are pleasant views of the river. Photos from a fine Tuesday afternoon in South Devon in July.
